Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, the brother of Yo Gotti, was allegedly shot and killed outside of a restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee.
According to a number of accounts, Mims and an additional unidentified individual were shot and killed on Saturday, January 14, outside Perignons Restaurant & Event Center.
The Memphis Police Department verified that officers were “flagged down” at 4:15 p.m. “on a shooting at 6385 Winchester” in a statement.
The police department did not confirm any identities of the victims and stated that the investigation is still ongoing.
While Mim’s identity wasn’t confirmed, it was reported that multiple police sources confirmed it was the older brother of the “Rake It Up” rapper who was shot dead.
The outlet added that the second person was subsequently airlifted in critical condition to Regional One Health in Memphis.
At a press conference, Chief Deputy Paul Wright stated that the Memphis Police Department is currently reviewing “video evidence” from the incident but has not yet identified a “clear” suspect.
Mims and the other individual were “possibly targeted by the suspect,” according to police department suspicions. Earlier in the day, Mims had gone to a relative’s funeral.
Mim honored a deceased family member in his most recent Instagram Story posts. Yo Gotti representatives were contacted by reporters, but they did not respond right away.
Furthermore, Yo Gotti, 42, has not commented in public on the alleged shooting of his brother. Whether the rapper was with his brother when the shooting happened is unknown.
